Privacy policy
I collect only what you send me in an email, plus basic server logs. This site has no analytics, no advertising tools, no contact form and no cookies of its own. I do not sell your information. You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Who I am
James Wajura ("I", "me") is a director and DOP based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, working as a sole trader.
This policy explains what personal information I collect through this website and by email, why, who sees it, and your choices. I handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles as a matter of good practice, and where they apply to me.
What I collect
Enquiries. Your name, email address, company, project details and message when you email me at hello@jameswajura.com. There is no contact form on this site.
Technical data. Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, which my website host (Cloudflare) may record in server and CDN logs.
There are no user accounts, payments, newsletters, analytics or advertising tools on this site.
How I use it and why
to reply to your enquiry, prepare quotes and run projects (needed to deal with you at your request)
to keep the site secure and working (my legitimate interest)
I do not sell personal information and I do not use it for advertising.
Who I share it with
Only the service providers I use to run the site and my business, as needed: Cloudflare (website hosting and security) and the email service I use for hello@jameswajura.com. I may also share information with professional advisers, or where the law requires it.
Overseas disclosure
Some of my providers, including Cloudflare, may store or process information outside Australia, for example in the United States. If you press play on an embedded YouTube video, YouTube (Google) will receive your request.
I take reasonable steps to choose providers that protect personal information.
Cookies, storage and embedded video
This site sets no cookies. Its own code uses your browser's session storage for two small things, remembering the work filter you chose and your scroll position so the page is as you left it when you come back from a project. These are cleared when you close the tab.
Fonts, images and most videos are served from this site. YouTube videos load from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play. Links to Instagram leave this site. Details are on the Cookies page.
How long I keep it
Enquiry emails are kept while they are relevant to a project, then deleted. Enquiries that did not proceed are kept for up to 12 months. Records of paid work are kept for 7 years for business and tax purposes.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you by emailing hello@jameswajura.com. I will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
Data breaches
I keep personal information secure and limit who can access it. If a breach is likely to cause serious harm, I will act quickly to contain it, notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required, and take steps to prevent it happening again.
Children
This site is not aimed at children under 16 and I do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you think I have, tell me and I will delete it.
Complaints
Please contact me first and I will try to resolve your concern. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the OAIC at www.oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy, for example if I add a contact form or any analytics or advertising tools. The date at the top shows the latest version.
